What do you do for Recession: Provide an eclectic hybrid mix of everything electro to progressive to mashup and just plain experimentally peverse. Im the Recession Dj’s last hope out of longterm unemployment as the resident recruiter. Unfortunately even I haven’t found a 9-5 job that I like…

Favourite Recession dj party moment: A few actually – having recently had most of my roadcrew turned away from a venue due to them having “had enough” according to the bouncers. Had enough what exactly? Also, watching the sun come up over the mountains playing a morning trance anthems set in subdegree temperatures at Elixir. Is it possible to get frost on your mixer? Playing Hard Trance at a RnB night out at the Embassy – the crowd dug it tres much. Putting on my first party in 2001 and having the fire brigade show up due to 3 smoke machines giving the whole “Burning down hall” effect.

When you’re not out partying you are a: geek, musician, producer, artist - www.djsooty.com - classically trained in flute and piano – although having agreed to dj at his first party in 2000 without even having seen a turntable in real life. The party went so well however that I ended up getting a shitload of gigs.

Favourite artist: I have the utmost respect for many artists – however I really dig Boards of Canada

Fav place to play: Outdoor events are always fun.. I dig the Burdekin and the Greenwood and venues with mixers with all the knobs on..

When you’re not out partying you are a: waiting for the weekend kinda person. hobbies include djing to myself to warm up b4 going out. Hanging with my mates. Studying (lol) and generally just hell-raising where possible XD.

When you’re not out partying you are a: I’m an awesome champion, or a champion of awesomness, or i just look like an idiot. Actually, I’m a entrepreneur, a Record Producer (yeah, who woulda thought?), A Radio Show guy (FreshFM Sundays 9 – 11, I’m not the cool sounding guy), A nightclub Hustler/promoter , A aerospace engineering Student (yay – a degree I wont use!) and a internet-holic.
